GIS and Remote Sensing

In keeping with CIBACs Goals and Objectives, we are involved in several GIS/Remote Sensing activities. Our activities include aviation safety assessment, airport geospatial feature extraction, and geospatial database development. We conduct focused analysis of aviation incidents and accidents in order to determine their magnitude, causal factors, and their spatial and temporal distribution in the US. Additionally we determined the effect of Airport Database Compliance as required FAA/DO-272 on aviation incidents and accidents. Our airport feature extraction studies utilize high-resolution spatial and spectral satellite images such as IKONOS. We use the Environment for Visualizing Images (ENVI) to process and analyze all the remotely sensed images. We are also qualified as an Intergraph Registered Research Lab (RRL). This distinction affords us the ability to utilize several geospatial software, including: GeoMedia Suite, Video Analyst, and the NASA VISAR.
