Title: Registering the SVS image against an FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared Radar)

For aircraft pilots, being able to have a perfect view of the runway and it surrounding environment is a key factor for a perfect landing. This becomes even more critical during trouble times when combat pilots have to land in hostile territory or in bad weather.  To solve the problem, computer generated 3D images also known as Synthetic Vision System (SVS) were developed as the Primary Flight Display (PFD) to give the pilot a perfect replica of the runway and its surrounding environment at all times. The purpose of this research is to register the SVS image against an FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared Radar) image of the runway and its surrounding environment taken from an airplane, to determine how well the SVS image matches it.
