Assistant Professor, Morgan State University
Baltimore, Maryland
Dr. Indranil Goswami, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering,
joined Morgan State University faculty in August 1992.
Since joining the faculty, he has been involved in teaching
a broad array of structures courses including engineering
mechanics, mechanics of materials, structural analysis,
reinforced concrete design, vibrations of structures,
and finite element analysis. He also teaches computer
aided engineering design and senior projects. In particular,
he has been engaged quite extensively in cirriculum design.
Dr. Goswami's area
of specialization is structural engineering with an emphasis
on structural dynamics and vibration control. In particular,
his research interests include passive and active methods
of vibration control, and optimal control strategies.
Recently, he has been pursuing applications of geographic
informations systems in such areas as transportation and
environmental impact and fluid-structure interaction problems
in aerodynamics and aeroelasticity.
He has served as a
structural consultant to Kiewet Construction Company .
Prior to commencing his duties he served as Post-Doctoral
Research Associate at the U.S. Naval Academy.
He received the BCE
(Hons) in Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University,
Calcutta, India and his MSE and Ph.D. degrees in civil
engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. He is a
Member of the American Society of Civil Engineering and
the Wind Engineering Research Council.
