The Engineering Student Services Center

What is the ESSC? The Hewlett Packard Education and Philanthropy Division awarded the School of Engineering a grant to impact the retention of underrepresented students through the development of the Engineering Student Services Center (ESSC) and an engineering student services (ESS) website. The ESSC is intended to promote student knowledge management, utilization of resources to promote academic achievement, linkage to the engineering environment, academic and social integration, in turn resulting in improved student retention. The services provided in the center are dedicated to student service delivery.

The Engineering Student Services Center is located on the second floor of the Mitchell Engineering Building in room 229.

What does the ESSC offer?

-Academic Support: Tutoring (S210), Study Groups, Supplemental Instruction for Chem 110, computer availability for printing academic support documents (study guides)

-Information Access: Engineering website; Program Brochures and Applications; Student Handbook; Scholarship Applications; and Graduate School, Internship, and Summer Research experience information

-Course Support: Graphing Calculators, Digital Camera, LCD Projector

-Student Career, Professional and Leadership Development: Workshops, Seminars, Organization Meeting Space, Resume and Job Interview workshops

-Business Services: Faxing, Copying, Color Printing, Typing (applications), Supplies (resume paper)

What is the primary goal of the ESSC? Our primary focus is to provide services and access to information, train students to be proactive in enhancing their academic achievement, and change the culture of the environment to include access and utilization of knowledge and technology as a way of life.

What about the ESS Website? The ESS website provides access to useful information for current and prospective students by answering questions or providing services that one may have or need.
