Identify and discuss with a faculty member a subject area to complete your Senior Design I Project during the
"pre-registration" period BEFORE the semester you intend to register for IEGR 496 (Senior Design I)
Upon approval of the chosen faculty advisor and Department Chair, obtain written confirmation by the advisor and Chair of the subject area, and register for IEGR 496 for the subsequent semester.
An oral presentation of the IEGR 498 Senior Design II Proposal must be presented and approved by the Department Faculty to register for IEGR 498. If not approved, the student receives an Incomplete grade for IEGR 496.
The student is allowed to register for IEGR 498 after the approval of the Senior Design proposal while enrolled in IEGR 496. The student may enroll during the
"pre-registration" period or at the beginning of the semester enrolled for IEGR 498.
During the enrolled semester of IEGR 498 (Senior Design II), the student should meet regularly with the advisor, provide weekly progress reports, and provide a written report and oral presentation to satisfy course requirements at least two weeks before the end of the semester. The student MUST satisfy all course requirements which include a final documented report, an oral presentation, and the comprehensive examination, to pass the course.
SENIOR DESIGN PROJECT I PROPOSAL- IEGR 496
The proposal submitted by the student should contain the following format with the approval of an Advisor and the Department Chairperson. The oral presentation should also follow the same format.
I. Background - describe a brief summary of the research domain for the proposed area;
II. Problem Description - describe the problem or hypothesis the research or design project will solve;
III. Methodology - describe the research approach to solve the problem;
IV. Tools Used - describe the Industrial Engineering tools and knowledge to be used to solve the problem;
V. Proposed Benefits & Outcome - describe the benefits of the proposed solution and the expected outcome of the project.
SENIOR DESIGN PROJECT II PROPOSAL
The Senior Design Project follows a thesis-quality format (APA-style)*
outlined in the 'Genral
Guidelines for Writing IEGR 498'. The paper must be of sufficient length in pages to completely describe the problem, research methodology, and solution. Students are strongly advised to follow the recommendations of the faculty advisor in completing this document. Students should provide an outline within the first four weeks of the semester and a 1st draft of the project by mid-term semester. A final draft MUST be submitted at least one week before the final presentation. The presentation MUST be completed at least two weeks before the end of the semester.
