Throughout
the year, NTC hosts, sponsors and participates in events that focus
on modes of transportation and the industry as a whole. The intent
is to stimulate interest in, and prepare students and professionals
for, careers in transportation.
Many of the events help promote innovation and progress in transportation by research, facilitating the dissemination of information and encouraging the implementation of research results. Each event provides participants with the latest industry information and news to assist them in understanding the role of the transportation professional in the 21st century.
On October 29, 2001, the NTC hosted its first-ever Urban Transportation
Summit, a half-day event focused on fostering dialogue on transportation
and economic & employment development in the Baltimore-Washington
region. Annually, the NTC hosts Job
Shadow Day, the Summer Transportation
Institute and a Research
Symposium. These events have been the staple of the Center since
their inception and they bring together professionals and students
of all ages. NTC also has co-sponsored the Greater Baltimore Area
Transportation Conference along with the Baltimore County Chamber
of Commerce each summer. The Suburban Maryland Transportation Priorities
Conference is also co-sponsored with the Greater Washington Board
of Trade each fall. Both of these conferences have dealt with transportation
planning and funding.
We encourage you to get involved! Our Events Calendar and Annual
