·M.Sc. Oceanology. St. Petersburg HydroMeteorological Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia, 1978. Major: Physical Oceanography, Minor: HydroMeteorology.

Area of Interest: Remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) applications in earth system science (ESS). Focused areas include land-use/land-cover change in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and climate change. Oceanology.

Present Research: Remote sensing applications in earth system science (ESS). Land-use/land-cover change studies. Hurricane and severe weather environmental assessment (Gulf States). Freshwater diversion and marsh productivity studies (Louisiana).

Future Research: MSU GIS database development. Porting the weather/climate models to NASA/GSFC parallel computing systems. Remote sensing/GIS integration for biophysical resourse management.
